I finally got around to finishing the tile for IAST#207. It was really a challenge, this one. I had never used this tangle before and with the suggested string, there was only one way I could think of composing this tile. The problem, you see, is that I was raised to be a follower of rules. I have trouble colouring outside the lines (almost literally in this case). So I looked at the string and I looked at the tangle and I stared at them for a while. I walked away from the problem and came back to it many times. Still, I only saw what I saw the first time. I only saw one way of fitting the tangle into the string. So, I decided to give up. Creativity can’t be forced, right? So, I let go and just put pen to paper. As it turns out I made up for my inability to treat the string as a mere suggestion by going crazy with the tangleations. I must say, considering how cornered and stuck I felt when I began, I am pretty happy with my final tile(s). Without much ado, here are my tiles. The first one is a draft done on a 5″x 5″ journal page and the second tile is essentially the same composition done on a 4″ x 4″ tile and has a little brown micron worked in.
